Hartvich loses two more players; Kings advance

After a shaky start to their first round series which saw them go down 0-2 to St. Louis, the L.A. Kings to roared back with four straight wins en route to eliminating the Blues for the second straight year.

All six games were decided by one goal, with Game 6 ending as the third 2-1 final score of the series. Just to add to the late scoring drama of the series, Dustin Penner took until almost the final tick of the clock to put the Kings up 2-1 with 0.2 seconds left in the second period.

The Blues loss hits one Stienley hopeful hard. Harty sees the departure of Chris Stewart and David Backes, and his roster has now been depleted to just seven players. Currently sitting in last place, 19 points back of the lead, Mr. Hartvich will be hard pressed to catch up, even with a three Penguins and four Hawks that could meet in the Stanley Cup Final. It isn't looking good for the seven-time Steinley Cup Champ.

Seven Kings skaters will now advance to the second round:

Kopitar - Graham
Richards - Aucoin
Doughty - Aucoin
Brown - Aucoin
Carter - Peters
Williams - Peters
Voynov - Peters
