Right on cue, Lowe took over top spot in the Steinley
standings on Thursday, but it wasn’t as forceful a takeover as expected. He got five points from seven players, and
that was just enough to move him into first place by one point.
Expect the see-saw action at the top to continue. S Graham has six skaters going tonight,
versus Lowe’s four. It won’t be
surprising to wake up on Saturday morning and see Graham back in the lead. Donnie O’Dollar, who sits just five points behind
Lowe will ice nine players tonight and he shouldn’t be counted out of the mix.
There was some bad news for Lowe on Thursday, as he lost
three Montreal Canadiens from his roster when the Sens closed out the hapless
Habs in five games. However, the news may be worse for those trying to stop the
Lowe. Those three Habs represent just six
points of the 45 he has amassed so far.
Losing Plekanec (4 pts), Ryder (2 pts) and Pacioretty (0 pts) won’t hurt
him that much.
Lowe wasn’t the only Steinley hopeful to lose players on
Thursday.
Peters also lost a Hab in PK Subban, who leads all tenth
round Steinley selections with four points.
O’Dollar bids au revoir to Andrei Markov (1 pt), and MacMillan
says farewell to Zach Parise (1 pt) and Mikko Koivu, as the Wild fell to the
Hawks in five games.
There are three more elimination games on tap on Friday
night: at home in Beantown, the Bruins will try to cancel the Stanley Cup
parade scheduled for late June in Toronto by ending the Leafs hopes; the Ducks will look to clip the pesky Wings; and the defending Stanley Cup Champion LA Kings will
seek a five game series win over the Blues in Socal.
